When you hear this word what is your first thought ?
Personally I don’t like the word and definitely don’t like the meaning.
Although many people use it not only in vocabulary, but in practice.
Yes, they do, they just don’t want to admit it.
Politicians do it almost all the time.
Salesman – don’t even go there.
Even those kind and nice people more than often reach out for this mighty tool.
Like my grandmother. Nice woman , good soul. But she had her ways.
She used to promise me my favorite cookies if I finish my homework and clean up my room. What is that than manipulation. Some might say even blackmail. I’ll stick to manipulation.
So, people do it , but don’t like to tell about it.
One of those things.
And I honestly can’t bare it.
I just hate manipulation.
There is no need for it.
We should just try to find some other ways.
It’s more fair to say openly and directly. Why would anyone insult my intelligence. And you know the feeling.
If I discovered something manipulative, then I refuse, often out of spite, to do anything. Even if I know I should do it.
Come out openly and straight, no need for games and IFS.
We should learn to act as grown ups. Or maybe this would be better.
We should learn to act and behave as kids. They don’t know what is manipulation. They follow their thoughts and hearts and if they make mistake, never mind, someone will fix it.
Basically, my grandmother didn’t have to promise me cookies for homework. I would do it anyway is she told me to. She should try is first.
Always try first normal approach, because once you disappoint someone, it’s done. No come back. And no trust.
And without trust we have no communication.
That’s not good at all.

Manipulation is a poor excuse for not having integrity.

You’re statement about refusing to be manipulated “out of spite” really hit home. I seem to have a knack of seeing things as they are. It’s looking for a deeper meaning and honestly, I read people very well. I have no tolerance for games. I do have to disagree, however about behaving as “kids.” Unfortunately, I see more and more manipulation amongst kids. Maybe they’re learning from their parents? Possibly the basis for manipulation is for self preservation. People seem to be more self indulgent than ever before and looking out for themselves despite the world around them. Maybe the cause is that the world is falling apart around them. Yet, people just don’t seem to understand that they’re manipulation is contributing to this.
