I think it's important to note that Twitter can also be the best source of misinformation in the world - there are positive and pejorative effects of Twitter (and other social networking sites) (see http://yesyesnomaybe.blat.co.za/2009/07/28/social-networking/ ) these sites are easy to negotiate and manage when you're educated - sometimes we forget that not everyone has access to knowledge, sometimes just to the technology ... but on the whole I'm pretty much for a merger of public and private journalism (which I think Twitter facilitates) ... I think that the benefits - used wisely - can outweigh the negative aspects.

Thanks for the post :)

Great article and argument points. Twitter is certainly becoming more of a news hub.

In essence, the title of this post caught my attention because a team member of mine wrote an article recently entitled: "Are bloggers influencers, journalists, or both" http://bit.ly/RatO2 and I guess with use of social media channels such as Twitter, all active bloggers can become journalists along with tweeps and other social media users.

Good job!
