ExaminerNowPublic
Some good news for citizen journalism. One, if not the first, purchase of citizen journalism site. And for some serious money. For citizen journalism sites $25 million is serious money. But most of all I am glad that someone finds citizen journalism enough interesting to buy one of most popular sites – NowPublic.com.
NowPublic.com started 2005 and did great so after a while got $12 million and did some changes and bought Truemors from Guy Kawasaki. NowPublic.com is very popular, in more than 160 countries and has great content.
Phil Anschutz, a bilionaire and owner of Examiner.com, is new owner of NowPublic.com. His company is based in Denver and is a part of Clarity Digital Group. Examiner.com started 2008 and has 15,000 members in more than 109 cities.
Both sites will keep their identity, good for users, and will continue to work separately.
