Few days ago happened one of, in my own opinion, the worst problems with citizen journalism sites. CNN’s iReport was in some way attacked with false information of Randall Stephenson’s death. I just thought that stupid things like this was left in the past, with that, year ago, so called news about Steve Jobs.
Freedom and free space which we get shouldn’t be used to write false and untrue news but to write interesting stuff and true ones. Because, news about someone’s death will always get official media, first checked with family of deceased.
Maybe in the future , if citizen journalism finds a way to deal with this shameful writers and stop their work, things could get better and citizen journalists could gain real trust and legality.
Until that time citizen journalists should try to write less breaking news stories and more about simple, ordinary everyday events.
